Obituary

Elizabeth Ann Browning, 89, passed away at home on Thursday, April 23, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

Elizabeth was born on November 3, 1936, in Buies Creek, NC to David William Weaver and Rebecca Overby Weaver. She married the love of her life, Rex Browning of Plymouth, NC, on January 28, 1955. In 1957, the couple made their home in Tarboro, NC, where Rex opened Rex Jeweler’s, a business that became well known in the community.

Ann was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker. Her greatest passion in life was raising her three daughters, Vickie, Becky, and Lynn, whom she loved deeply and cared for with unwavering dedication. She was most content at home, where she found joy caring for her family and creating a warm, welcoming environment for all. She enjoyed working in her yard, sewing, and refinishing furniture – talents that reflected her creativity, patience and love for making things beautiful. She and Rex also shared many happy years with friends as members of a Canasta Club and a Supper Club, cherishing fellowship and laughter together.

To Ann, family meant everything. She shared a close and loving bond with her brother, Bill Weaver, who she adored greatly, and his wife Debbie. She was a proud “Gaga” to Heather, Ashley, Lauren, Alston, Browning and Ann Margaret, each of whom held a special place in her heart. She was also blessed with three great-grandchildren, Parker, Beatty and Riley, who brought her immense joy and happiness.

Ann will be remembered as a gentle, loving woman who found her purpose in home and family, whose quiet strength and devotion touched all who knew her. Her legacy lives through the generations she nurtured and loved so dearly.

Ann is preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband Rex, daughters Vickie Pool, Becky Mitchell, Lynn Taylor and son-in-law Michael Taylor; grandchildren, Heather Vile (Mike), Browning Pool (Debbie), Ashley Pool (Robert), Lauren Mitchell (Mark), Alston Mitchell (Brittney), and Ann Margaret Taylor, and great-grandchildren Parker Vile, Beatty Edge and Riley Edge.

A Visitation will be held at Carlisle Funeral Home on Monday, April 27, 2026, 1:00 PM – 2:00PM, with a Memorial Service following at 2:00 PM in the Funeral Home Chapel.
