Ella Mae Newton, 78, passed away Wednesday, June 30, 2021 at her home with her loving family by her side.

Funeral service will be held Saturday, July 3, 2021 at 1:00 pm, Carlisle Funeral Home with Pastor Sammy Wood officiating. Burial will follow in Edgecombe Memorial Park.

She retired from Mayo Knitting Mill after 41 years of service.

Ella was born April 25, 1943 in Pitt County to Amos and Maggie Jones Taylor. In addition to her parents, she also was preceded in death by a grandson, Brad Butler; sister, Margaret Smith; brothers, Raymond Taylor, Phillip Taylor, and Victor Taylor.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Columbus "Lummy" Newton; daughters, Debbie Holloman, Vickie  Briley (David), Darlene Butler (Dan); sisters, Rosa Bateman (Wayne), Jean Winslow; grandchildren, Billy Smith, Jr.(Annette), Shannon Cash (Cody), Brandon Smith (Kaitlyn), Tonya Owens (Jamie), Bobby Allen, Jr., Tori Allen (Brad), Chris Allen (Morgan), Michelle Driver (John), Amanda Butler (Brian), Josh Butler (Margie), 21 great grandchildren

The family will receive friends and other family members Saturday, July 3, 2021 from 12noon until 1:00 pm Carlisle Funeral Home and other times at the home 1300 Warren St., Tarboro, N.C.
