Ernest Ray Poling passed peacefully in the presence of family on Friday, July 23, 2021.

Ernie will be remembered for his humble, generous heart and quick wit. He would help anyone tackle any project and volunteered his time at a moment's notice. He spent his spare time with his family and loved to visit with his grandchildren. He enjoyed serving his church, wood working, watching NASCAR , and boating around the Bogue Sound. Wherever Ernie was and whatever he was doing, he was sure to be sharing them with his loving wife, Sharon. Ernie retired from Greenville Utilities after 24 years of devoted service.

Ernie was preceded in death by his mother, Ruby Poling, his father, Worthington Poling, his sister Peggy Webster, and his brother Earl Poling.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife of 39 years Sharon Poling, his sons Michael Collen Dew and Kevin Dew, his daughters Patty Feimster and Jennifer "Bucky" Quinn, their spouses Amy Dew, Shannon Dew, Randall Feimster, and Ricky Jones; brother Ed Poling, sister-in-law Mary Poling, sister Sharon Whitlatch, and numerous nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren Michaela, Avery, Maegan, Cam, Colton, Ethan, Kyla, Layla, and Grayson.

The family will receive friends and family at the funeral home from 4 PM until service time and other times at the home.

A Celebration of Ernie's Life will be held at Carlisle Funeral Home on Thursday, July 29, 2021 at 5 PM .
