Frances Langley Batts, age 90, passed away on Friday, January 27, 2023. She was surrounded by her three surviving children, Bo, Debra and Keith.

She was born in 1932 in Sandy Cross, NC to German and Judy Langley and was the last living of her 5 brothers and sisters. She attended Coopers School in Sandy Cross the entire 12 years of her education and graduated with honors.

In 1951, she met the love of her life, Willis Ray Batts  and they were married in February 1953.  Over the next 33 years, they raised 4 children, and relocated multiple times as Ray was promoted by Carolina Telephone.  They finally settled in Tarboro in 1968, where she spent most of her remaining 37 years after Ray's passing in 1986 at the young age of 55.  She loved to read, work crossword puzzles and taking bus trips to various travel spots but most of all, she loved her family.  She was a member of St James United Methodist Church in Tarboro for over 50 years.

She was predeceased by her parents, five siblings, her husband Ray Batts, a son, Richard Brian Batts and a beloved daughter in law, Lisa Flowers Batts.

She is survived by her sons, Willis Ray "Bo" Batts, Jr (Bonita), John Keith Batts (Jennifer) and daughter, Debra Batts Isley (Bob), 13 grandchildren: Morgan Batts Purvis (Josh), Bart Isley (Anna), Carter Batts Davis (Alex), Will Isley (Jaimee), Allison Isley Crabtree (Chris), Lauren Batts Stutzman (Jonathon), Justin Ray Batts, John Andrew Batts, Gray Batts Conway (John), Jessica Batts Brown (Sam), William Ray Batts and bonus granddaughters Laura Craven (Mark) and Sarah James (Trey).  Additionally, she was blessed with 22 great-grandchildren with another one due in May 2023.

The family would like to thank her special friend and caregiver Dana Jones for the care and comfort she gave.

The family will receive friends at Carlisle Funeral Home on Monday, January 30, 2023 from 1 until 2 pm with a service following at 2 PM in the Chapel of Carlisle Funeral Home with the Reverend John Conway, Jr. officiating. Entombment will follow at Edgecombe Memorial Park.
