Gary "Wayne" Burnette, 70 passed away Sunday, December 6, 2020 at MacGregor Downs Health and Rehabilitation in Greenville, NC.  He was born in Tarboro, NC on January 6, 1950 to James B. and Ethel Mae Rivenbark Burnette.

He proudly served in the U. S. Navy stationed in San Diego, CA aboard the U.S.S. England and touring the western countries.  After returning home to be with his loving wife, of Jeanette he worked at Walker Paint Company in Battleboro, NC until becoming permanently disabled.

He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Ethel Burnette.  Brothers Jerry and Teddy Pigg, Gene and Jimmy Burnette, and sister Betty Brown as well as his loving wife of 32 years, Carol Jeanette Langley Burnette.

He has left to cherish his memory his beloved daughter, Elaine Burnette Simms and husband John of Whitakers. Stepson Tommy Woolard and wife Susan of Rocky Mount.  Grandchildren Joshua Adcox and wife Kimberly of Pinetops, Justin Adcox of Tarboro, Brent Woolard and wife Stephanie of Rolesville, and Amanda Woolard of Raleigh.  Greatgrandchildren Anthony and Addisyn Adcox, Garrett and Gavin Woolard.  His sister Shirley Umphlet Smith of Hayes, VA.  He also leaves a behind many nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends that he has touched in some way.

The family would like to give special thanks to all the staff at MacGregor Downs and Community Home Care and Hospice.

The family will receive friends Wednesday at Carlisle Funeral Home on Wednesday from 11:00–12:00 noon.
