Gary George Segars, 58, passed away on Monday November 22, 2021, at Vidant Medical Center, Greenville, N.C.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 27, 2021, at 6:00 PM at Heartsease Volunteer Fire Department with Pastor Billy Crabtree officiating. The family will receive friends from 4:00–6:00 pm on Saturday, November 27, at the fire station.
Gary was born in Reading, Pennsylvania on December 23, 1962 to George Segars and Shirley Ester Ivey. Gary was preceded in death by his grandparents, LeRoy and Lillian Mathews, Herbert and Shopie Segars; father, George Segars and a son, Anthony Brunett.
He is survived by his loving family including his wife, Pamela Brunett Segars of the home; mother, Shirley Ivey of Rocky Mount; son, Jeffery Brunett and his wife, Tammy of Rocky Mount; daughters, Leigh Segars Mitchell of Wilson, Melissa Jackson and her husband, Chris of Shelby, N.C.; grandchildren, Summer Mitchell, Maddison and Jackson Brunett, Gabriel, Haleigh and Xander Worley; his beloved fur babies, Lap Dog, Oreo, Polar Bear and Batman.
Gary was a devoted firefighter since he was 16 years old and retiring in 2020 as Fire Chief. He started his fire service at West Edgecombe Volunteer Fire Department and finished his career at Heartsease Volunteer Fire Department. He was also a devoted long-time employee at Kanban Logistics. Gary loved to cook on the grill, spend time with his family and friends. He loved his children, grandchildren, fur babies and friends. He was always there to help if you needed a hand. He spent endless hours serving his community, doing fund raisers for the fire department. He leaves behind lasting memories to last a lifetime with friends and family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Carlisle Funeral Home, P. O. Box 326, Tarboro, N. C. 27886 to help with funeral expenses.
