Gene Autry Whitfield, 76, passed away Thursday, October 26, 2017.

Gene was born September 9, 1941 to Charlie James and Ida Mae Whitfield.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Viola Thomas and a brother, Earl Whitfield.

Graveside service will be held Sunday October 29, 2017 at 2:00pm in the Oak City Cemetery, Oak City, N.C. with Rev. Sonny Simpson officiating.

Gene is survived by his wife of 37 years, Brenda Whitfield; daughter, Angela Tolston and husband, Fate; sons, Larry Whitfield and wife, Barbara, Joey Whitfield and Johnny Whitfield; step-daughter, Katina Crowder and husband, Stacey, sisters, Pauline Scott and Mary Matthews; brother, Charlie Whitfield; 16 grandchildren, and 23 great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends and other relatives Friday, October 27, 2017 at Carlisle Funeral Home from 7:00 – 9:00pm.
