George Alton Boone, 86, passed away, November 3, 2025. George Alton was born in Tarboro to George Hubert and Mary Frances Leggett Boone on August 9, 1939.
Visitation will be 6:30 - 8:00 pm on Tuesday, November 18, 2025 at Carlisle Funeral Home. Graveside will be at 11:00 am on Wednesday, November 19, 2025 at Edgecombe Memorial Park.
After graduating high school, he joined the US Air Force, serving in multiple locations. He worked at Long Manufacturing before moving to Edgecombe County Schools in their maintenance department. After retiring from Edgecombe County Schools, he delivered parts for NAPA to "stay young". He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George Hubert and Mary Frances Boone, his son Timothy Alton Boone and his in-laws, John "Sam" and Mildred Hathaway.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Patricia Ann Hathaway Boone, brother, Larry Dixon Boone (Pat) of Tarboro, brother in-law J.S. Hathaway (Javotte) of Speed, nephews, Kirk Boone (Jennifer) of New Whiteland, IN, Logan Hathaway (Amelia) of Speed, niece, Jenny Boone Schill (Tom) of Temperance Hall, great nephews, Cameron Hathaway, Reed Schill, great nieces, MacKenzie Hathaway, Payton Cooley, cousins, Linda Harrell Webb and Joyce Harrell Owens of Tarboro, Wayne Whitehurst (Alice) of Sharpsburg and his special "adopted" daughter Charlotte Webb Smith (Jeff) of Littleton.
