George Clifton Hyman "G.C.", 94, passed away on Monday, April 6, 2020.
Due to the Corona 19 Virus precautions, the family will have a private graveside at Edgecombe Memorial Park.
G.C. was born in Martin County on December 14, 1925 to the late Alonzo Mayo Hyman and Gatsy Annie Rawls Hyman.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his children, Johnny Baum, Henry Clifton Hyman; 7 siblings; 3 wives; nephews, Jackie Joyner (whom took care of him every day until his passing) niece, Carol Hatchel.
He is survived by a loving family that will miss him dearly, nephews, Herbert W. Lewis, Jr., Michael Etheridge; niece, Susan Joyner and great-niece, Luanne Joyner (who both took care of him); many other great-nieces and nephews; and his best friend for over 30 years, Norman Bass (who also helped take care of him through the years).
G. C. proudly served in the U.S. Army and was a WWII Veteran. He retired from CSX after many years of dedicated service. Golf was his passion; he was an avid golf player.
The family would like to thank all the nurses and caregivers at The Fountains at The Albemarle for helping them and Mr. Hyman with his care.
