George Rudolph Pope, 90, passed away on Wednesday, October 7, 2020.

George was born in Wilson County on December 24, 1929 to John Pope and Claudia Pender Pope. He was a contractor with an expertise in building staircases. He enjoyed drinking his coffee, reading, listening to music or just talking with family and friends. George also had a love for flowers. He could often be found grooming his flowerbeds.

A graveside service will be held at 11:30 AM on Saturday, October 10, 2020 in Pineview Cemetery, Pinetops, NC with Pastor Gordon Braxton officiating.

He was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy Pope.

He is survived by his son, Jim Pope and wife Sandra; daughters, Joyce West and husband David, Jackie Dunn and husband Jimmy; grandchildren, Jamey, Duane, Jason, Heather, Cassie and Melissa and 7 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Saturday from 10:00-11:00 AM at Carlisle Funeral Home.
