George Marvin Stewart, Jr., 69, passed away on Sunday March 5th, 2023 at his home.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 9, 2023 at William & Mary Hart Presbyterian Church at 3:00 PM with the family receiving friends from the hours of 1 until 3 PM before the service. The interment will follow at William & Mary Hart Presbyterian Church Cemetery with Masonic Rites provided by Concord Lodge #58

George was born in Tarboro to George and Ailleen Stewart. He was preceded in death by his father George Marvin Stewart, Sr., and his brother Charles Millard Stewart.

He is survived by his mother Ailleen Speight Stewart; brother Robert Speight Stewart and wife Debra Stewart; his niece Bobbi Stewart; and his great niece and nephews Bryson, Catherine Ann, and Charlie.

George was a devoted lifetime member of William & Mary Hart Presbyterian Church in Leggett. He was also a member of Leggett Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed educating others about his family's genealogy and the history of the civil war. He spent many nights on the porch at Doctor Peter Temple's picking his banjo and playing blue grass with the Tar River Boys. George spent his working years farming with Grimes Farms. After retiring, George dedicated many hours at the Masonic Lodge in Tarboro and visiting with family and friends.. He was a longtime and active member of the Concord Lodge #58 in Tarboro.
