George Clifford Wombles, 82, passed into the Kingdom of Heaven to be with his Lord and Savior on August 5, 2021. He was born, in Crawford, Georgia to Clifford Wardell and Annie Lou Wombles.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lois Hagans Wombles of Tarboro; brothers, Joseph Nathaniel Wombles of Tarboro and Bobby Jackson Wombles of Virginia.

George leaves behind his daughters, Beverly Simpson (Tom) and Felicia Wombles; Granddaughters, Kristin Simpson (sugar plum), Kaitlin Simpson (honey bun), Grandson, Thomas (the Duke) Simpson;   wife Kim and  great-granddaughter Elena all of Tarboro;  Sister, Eloise Wombles Raines of Georgia, extended family and friends; and his fur babies, Bella and Simba.

George served his country in the US Army and was a self-employed contactor for Edgecombe County and other surrounding areas until his retirement.  He enjoyed reading his Bible and going to church. He liked to talk about politics, spending time with his family and watching "John Wayne". He was a very humble and giving person to anyone he met and will be missed dearly.

The visitation will be held Tuesday, August 10, 2021 at Carlisle Funeral Home from 1:00-2:00 pm followed by a Celebration of Life in the Chapel. The interment will follow in Edgecombe Memorial Park.
