Helen Hunter Baber Fout, 94, of Tarboro. North Carolina, died July 20, 2021, at The Fountains at the Albemarle.

Helen was born in Batesville, Virginia, on September 16, 1926, to Hunter Charles and Emma Lina Brown Baber. Upon graduating high school, Helen began her 30-year career in the textile industry in Covington, Virginia, and ended that career at Glenoit Mills in Tarboro. She then entered into hotel management, retiring as General Manager with Days Inn in 1991, having earned the distinction of General Manager of the Year for the Atlantic Division in 1983.

In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her husband Willis Melvin "Dick" Fout, her siblings, Berta Ola Baber Peak, Thelma Marie Baber Linehan, Annie Mae Baber Kelly, Goldie Franklin Baber, and Alice Pearl Baber Barnett; and her grandson Danny Lee Casper, Jr.

Survivors include her children, Willis Hunter "Billy" Fout and wife, Mary Moore Fout, Patricia Lynn Fout Holland and husband, Jay; her grandchildren, Hamilton Baber Fout and wife, Betty Tao Fout, Jessica Hunter Fout Kessler and husband, Troy, and Mary Hannah Fout Puckette and husband, Jeff; her great-grandchildren Brandon Hunter Street, Gage Kessler, Haley Fout, Cameron Fout, and Jordan Fout; her great great-granddaughter Jocelyn Grace Street; her sister-in-law Pattie Baber; her nieces and nephews Don Linehan, Joyce Kelly Dunn, Donna Kelly Dillon, John Hunter Kelly, William Franklin "Billy" Baber, and Charles Lewis Barnett; and a host of grand and great-grand nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held Friday, July 23, 2021, at 11:00 am at Edgecombe Memorial Park in with Charles Barnett officiating. The family will meet with friends following the service at the cemetery and other times at the home of Jay and Patsy Holland.
