Henry Edward Long, 78, passed away on Sunday, July 12, 2026, at home.
Henry was born in Hobgood, NC, on February 25, 1948, to the late Allen L. Long and Addie R. Long. During his life, he served in the US Army during the Vietnam War.
Henry’s father passed on carpentry skills to all his sons. Those skills were not only used for Henry’s livelihood, but later in life in his missionary work for the Lord where he was able to travel to other countries and help rebuild communities.
As demonstrated in his missionary work, Henry was a devoted Christian who loved sharing the words of the Bible. He will be deeply missed by many.
In addition to his parents, Henry was preceded in death by his sisters, Bet Long Hillas, Mabel Long Mabry; brothers, Bo (Rueben) Long, Bobby Long, Claude Long, and Jimmy Long.
He is survived by his wife of many years, Faye; his daughters, Gloria Long Mills, Angela Long Grant; grandchildren, Emily Long Mills, Alex Amend, Dylan Twiddy; sisters, Hazel Long Hale, Debbie Long Fox; brothers, Paul Long, George Long (Linda), Joe Long (Cindy) and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm on Friday, July 17, 2026, at Brentwood Pentecostal Holiness Church of Tarboro.
