Irene Harris Nichols, 80, passed away on Tuesday, November 20, 2018 peacefully at the home of her son, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Pitt County on November 12, 1938 to the late James Earl Harris and Eunice Holloman Harris. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Marvin Earl Nichols; brothers, E.J. Harris, Henry Harris, Linwood Earl Harris, Raymond Harris; sisters, Edna Harris and Barbara Coggins.

She is survived by her loving family; son, Michael "Mike" Nichols and wife Sue of Tarboro; grandson, Michael "Jason" Nichols and wife Morgan of Belvoir; granddaughter, Jamie Nichols and fiance Christopher "Cheeseball" Marks of Conetoe; great granddaughters, Ryann and Kaitlynn Nichols. Sisters, Eunice Mae Bell of Belvoir, Pearline Hamm of Tarboro, Wanda Suggs of Rocky Mount, Kathy Bottoms of Rocky Mount; and brothers, Kenneth Harris and wife Barbara of Tarboro, and Bruce Harris of Rocky Mount.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 24, 2018 at 2:00 pm in the chapel at Carlisle Funeral Home with the Rev. Johnny Hendricks officiating.

The family will receive friends at Carlisle Funeral Home on Friday, November 23, 2018 from 7:00 - 9:00 pm and other times at the home of her son, 5722 NC 42 E, Tarboro, NC.
