James Harvey Jones, Sr. passed away at home on Thursday, March 13, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

James was born on April 29, 1948, to the late Rolft Vincent Jones and Helen Moore Jones. James was known to be an adventurous soul with many interests and hobbies. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle for many years and loved "slinging mud". His children have fond memories of joining him in these escapades.

James also loved playing pool, which led to the addition of a much-enjoyed pool table in the family home. James loved fishing of any kind, tinkering on cars, and creating special gifts of wood. He built a wooden flower box for his mother that she kept in the yard.

In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by a brother, Rolft Vincent Jones, Jr.; mother and father-in-law, Lane and Emma Simpson; sisters-in-law, Sally Rose Baker and Mary Jo Johnson; a brother-in-law, Simon Thomas Simpson; nephew, Lanie Simpson; and great granddaughter, Unique Holland.

James is survived by his beloved wife of almost 58 years, Estelle Jone; son, James Harvey Jones, Jr. (Sandra); daughter, Tammy Renee Owens (John, Sr.); and many loved grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at Carlisle Funeral Home on Monday, March 17, 2025, from 6:00 – 8:00 PM.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday, March 18, 2025 at 11:00 AM at His Vision Ministry, with interment immediately following at Edgecombe Memorial Park.
