James "David" Norris, 73, of Tarboro, passed away peacefully on Dec. 30,2022, after a long struggle with a chronic illness.

David was born in Tarboro, NC, to the late James Joseph Norris and Glendine Whitehurst Norris on September 6, 1949. David was a graduate of Tarboro High School and served in the U.S. Army.

David is survived by his sister, Glenda Norris (Sherry) of Tarboro, NC; sons David Michael Norris (LeAnn) of Columbia, SC and James Justin Norris of Tarboro, NC. David was a proud grandfather to one granddaughter, Jamie Nicole Norris of Tarboro, NC.

David was preceded in death by his parents, James Joseph Norris and Glendine Whitehurst Norris, and a grandson, Little Woody.

David was a loyal and retired employee of UGL – Unnico. He was known as someone who could really "fix anything" including carpentry work and any mechanical issue. David found the most joy in playing golf with his friends (especially after retirement), listening to beach music, and traveling to various shag dance clubs in Eastern NC to dance.

David's services are entrusted with Carlisle Funeral Home of Tarboro, NC .  David will be cremated and a memorial service will be held at a later date.
