James Bryan Weathersbee, born November 19, 1958, a beloved husband, father, stepfather, grandfather, brother, and friend, of Tarboro, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on September 17th, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.

Born to Milton and Frances Weathersbee, Bryan was a lifelong Tarboro native who loved his community and the people who called it home. He dedicated nearly 50 years of his working life to the telephone company. His commitment to his work was just one reflection of the loyalty and dedication that defined his life.

Bryan was generous to his core, fiercely protective of his family, and, as anyone who knew him would gladly admit, incredibly stubborn. Those who loved him knew that his stubbornness was often just another expression of how deeply he cared and how strongly he believed in the people and things that mattered to him.

He had a lifelong love of hunting and cherished the time spent outdoors. In fact, opening day of hunting season was his favorite “holiday”. His desire to serve others also led him to volunteer with the fire department, where he found another way to help and protect the community he loved.

But above all else, Bryan loved his family.

He leaves behind his devoted wife, Beth Weathersbee; his children, Curt, Ashley, and Matt; his daughters-in-law, Tonantzin and Ciara; and his beloved grandchildren, Colten, Anna Brooke, Zane, Jameson, Tonalli, Tonatiuh, and Quetzalli. His family was his greatest pride, and his presence in their lives will be deeply missed.

Bryan was preceded in death by his parents, Milton and Frances Weathersbee; and his siblings, Judy and Keith.

To know Bryan was to know someone who loved deeply, gave freely, protected fiercely, and left an impression on the people fortunate enough to know him. His stories, his persistent spirit, his generosity, and the love he had for his family and friends will live on through the people he leaves behind.

A visitation will be held across the street from the residence, at 1702 Pine Street (Tarboro, NC) on Wednesday, September 23rd from 5:00pm to 8:00pm.

In accordance with Bryan’s wishes, a private memorial service will be held at The Kitchen in the Country with immediate family.

The family invites all who knew and loved Bryan to join them in remembering and celebrating a life that was deeply loved and will never be forgotten at visitation.
