On Friday, October 7, 2022, James Sherwood White passed away peacefully at his home from natural causes.

Sherwood was born in November 1936 in Bethel. He attended Bethel schools and then joined the U.S. Army in 1962 and served in Korea.

After serving time in the Army, he married his wife Jean and has been happily married for more than 55 years.  Sherwood was also actively involved with Trinity Baptist Church.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Jean and his sister Lola Dixon of Chocowinity. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Frances White; sibling Willard.

A visitation will be held at Carlisle Funeral Home from 6 to 8 pm on Sunday, October 9th. Funeral Services will be held at 2pm on Monday, October 10th at Carlisle Funeral Home, followed by a graveside service at Conetoe Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in honor of Sherwood to Trinity Baptist Church in Tarboro, North Carolina.
