Jean C. Owens (87) passed away on Sunday, December 10, 2023 at The Bridges of Hendricks Creek.

Funeral services will be held at Carlisle Funeral Home in Tarboro on Saturday, December 16, 2023 at 2:00 PM. Family members will greet friends and family from 1:00 to 2:00 PM before the service.

Born July 21, 1936 in Wilson, NC, she was the daughter of the late Daniel Hugh and Lucille Carlton Cole.

She graduated from East Carolina University with a bachelor's degree in education and later a master's degree in mathematics. She went on to teach English and Math for 40+ years.

Jean was a long-term member and Sunday school teacher at Trinity Baptist Church in Tarboro, NC.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Philip "Sam" Owens; brother, Hugh Cole; sister, Ann Erman; and brother, Robert "Bob" Cole.

She is survived by her son, Daniel "Danny" Owens and wife, Michelle Owens; granddaughter, Taylor Owens and fiancé Ginger Proctor; grandson, Payton Owens and wife Elizabeth Smith; and great-grandson Jay B. Owens.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Trinity Baptist Church or charity of your choice.
