Jean H. Harrell, 73, of Lumberton, passed away Friday morning, March 24, 2023, after an extended and brave struggle with kidney disease. She was a faithful and loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, friend, and follower of Jesus.

Jean was born June 3, 1949, in Edgecombe County, North Carolina to Ray and Sarah Harrell of Pinetops and moved to Lumberton in 1985. She gave many years of dedicated service to Southeastern Health System, from which she retired in 2015. Jean is survived by her husband of almost 52 years, Rev. Dennis Harrell of Lumberton; her two daughters Sherry Harrell Abrams (Brady) of Pinetops and Wendy Harrell of Lumberton; her granddaughter Sarah LeViere of Lumberton, her mother Sarah Harrell of Pinetops, and her brother Rev. Micheal Harrell (Joycelynn) of Rocky Mount. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Billy Ray (BR) Harrell and Johnny Brooks (JB) Harrell.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, March 28, 2023, at Pinetops Baptist Church, 710 W. Hamlet Street. Pinetops, N.C. with Rev. Mike Pittman, Rev. Donnie Paschall, and Rev. Michael Harrell officiating. Burial will follow in the Pinetops Baptist Cemetery.

A separate memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 30, 2023, at Hyde Park Baptist Church, 301 Roberts Avenue, Lumberton. The family will receive visitors in Pinetops from 2 to 3 p.m. Tuesday, March 28, 2023 at the church prior to the service, and again on Thursday evening, March 30, 2023 in Lumberton at the end of the memorial service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hyde Park Baptist Church or Vertical Church of Lumberton or Pinetops Baptist Church in Pinetops.

Arrangements will be handled by Carlisle Funeral Home of Tarboro, North Carolina.
