Joan Hall Pigg, 70, of Tarboro, NC died at 7:02 p.m. on Monday, October 31, 2022, in her home. She was born December 2, 1951, in Rocky Mount, NC to James and Viola Hall.

Joan was married for 40 years to her high school sweetheart, David Wayne Pigg, before his passing in 2020.

She is survived by her two sons, Ryan Davis Pigg & wife Desiree, and David Wayne Pigg, Jr. & wife Jordan; two grandchildren, Emma, and Sophia; sisters, Susan H. Woodruff, and Amy H. Goode (Bill); and several nieces and nephews.

Her mother, father, husband, and brother Jimmy Hall, Jr., preceded her in death.

She served the Department of Agriculture until her retirement in 1996.

Joan dearly loved her two sons, Ryan & Dave, and her late husband, David. She had a generous heart and showed her love through giving to others. She was known for her affections for animals, especially her rescue dog, Alfie. She loved the NC Coast, flowers, had an artsy side, but above all, she loved her grandchildren, Emma Grey and Sophia Celeste.

Through her many years of care giving for her family, Joan quietly exhibited courage in facing life's health challenges, and especially her strong will to live, not so much for herself, but her family most of all. Her young granddaughters literally gave her a new lease on life.

Joan was a fiercely proud member of Tarboro High Class of 1970. She maintained dozens of friendships through Messenger and Facebook posts, enjoying mutual strength and motivation among her Facebook friends. Many have stated how much they will miss her loving posts of her grandchildren and her sons.

Instead of flowers, potted plants are welcome, and it would please Joan if contributions were made to the new Edgecombe County Animal Shelter, c/o Edgecombe County Sheriff's Office, or to Tarboro T-N-R.

The visitation will be held on Saturday, November 5, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at Carlisle Funeral Home with the Celebration of Life at 2pm.
