Johnnie Hollingsworth, 83, passed away Tuesday, December 24, 2019 at Vidant Medical Center, Greenville, N.C.

Funeral service will be held Saturday, December 28, 2019 at 1:00 pm at Maccripine Free Will Baptist Church with Don Holland officiating. Burial will follow at a later date.

Johnnie was born February 22, 1936 in Cumberland County to Johnnie H. and Cora Bell Hollingsworth. He proudly served his country in U.S. Air Force retiring in 1972. He owned and operated Hollingsworth Heating and Air Conditioner Company. He loved the Lord and was a faithful member of Maccripine Free Will Baptist Church where he served as a trustee and enjoyed singing in the church choir. He will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his loving family, including his wife of 55 years, Betty Hollingsworth; daughter, Janet Thursby and her husband, Philip of Rocky Mount; son, Johnnie H. Hollingsworth, Jr.,and his wife, Barbara of Atlanta, Ga.; grandchildren, Andrew, Jordan, Haley, Michael and Zachary; sisters, Frances Canady and Shirley Britt; special friend, David Edmondson; several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends following the service Saturday at Maccripine Free Will Baptist Church, Macclesfield, N.C.
