Joseph Reden Whitley Jr., 83, passed away Tuesday April 27, 2021.

Joe spent his life farming with his brother Elmore and father Sam, they also operated the Zenith "Shell" Service Station for about 25 years, alongside with a used car lot. Joe had a passion for being around the water, whether at Emerald Isle or Lake Mattamuskeet where they had a family hunting camp.

Joe is preceded in death by his father Sam and mother Ida Whitley, his sister and brother-in-law Odene & Sammy Fly, his brother Harvey Elmore Whitley.

Joe leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife Teresa with 33 years of marriage, his son Jay and wife Lisa, sisters-in-law Becky Whitley, Liz Braxton and Brenda Braxton. Also survived by his nephew Greg (Gloria), nieces Sandy (Richard), Mitsy (Jerry) and Renee, several great-nephews & nieces and a special family pet Claire.

Graveside services will be held in Macclesfield Cemetery on Friday, April 30, 2021 at 2:00 PM, with visitation to follow.
