Judith Davis
Long
August 12, 1939 – April 7, 2026
Calvary Episcopal Church
Starts at 11:00 am (Eastern time)
Judi Davis was born and grew up in Marshallberg, NC and graduated from Morehead City High School in the class of 1958. Her parents were Olive Lewis Davis and Gray Morris Davis.
After moving to Tarboro, she worked for Runnymede Mills, BB&T, and The United Way. She worked for Village Realty as a Real Estate Broker; a position she truly enjoyed introducing her to people arriving in Tarboro.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 59 years, James Howell Long. She is survived by her daughter, Jamie Long Maginnes and husband, Al Maginnes of Raleigh; her son, William Redden Long of Tarboro and friend, Catherine Goldman, and daughter-in-law, Renee Anderson of Tarboro. Her grandchildren are Isabel Esperanza Maginnes, from Raleigh, Issac Redden Long from Tarboro, and Arrington Gram Long from Iwakuni, Japan.
Judi was a devoted member of Calvary Episcopal Church for all of her Tarboro life, she served as chair of the Altar Guild, and volunteered for Meals on Wheels, for which she also served as Edgecombe County Chairman.
Judi was always ready to help anyone who needed assistance: as a volunteer for VOICE, and as a Visitor at the hospital. She frequently drove people to medical appointments or procedures over quite long distances. Her cheerful conversation and her sense of humor would have made her superb in the task of helping people feel better.
Judi loved the outdoors and wildlife – but her heart was never without particular love for “Down East”, especially the salt-sprayed community of Marshallberg, and the village of Hatteras, where she and James enjoyed being long-time members of the Marlin Club.
Judi was a loyal friend to many, and especially the group of very close friends who called themselves the “birthday girls”, and who relied on each other for many different things, including love, friendship, and entertainment!
A funeral service will be held at Calvary Episcopal Church in Tarboro, NC on Thursday, April 16, at 11:00 AM. Following the service, a reception will be held in Clark Hall. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Calvary Episcopal Church, Tarboro.
