Julius Earl Leggett, Sr., 94, passed away on Monday, February 17, 2020.

A graveside service will be held at 3:00 PM on Friday, February 21 at Edgecombe Memorial Park with the Rev. Ricky Forkum officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday from 1:00-3:00 PM at the funeral home.

Earl was born in Edgecombe County on February 3, 1926 to Garnie Montgomery Leggett and Annie Bradley Leggett.  He honorably served in the United States Navy.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Thompson Leggett; sons, Tracy, Curtis and J.E. Leggett, Jr.; daughter, Susan Leggett Williams; and a grandson, Blake Williams.

He is survived by a special friend, Lillian Kirkland, of Tarboro; sons, Daniel Leggett, of Tarboro, Richard Leggett, of Tarboro; grandchildren, Christie Leggett, of Tarboro, Daniel Leggett, Jr. (Janet), of Conetoe, Mary Beth Zuker (Matt), of Clarksville, Tenn., Amanda Whitt, of Alabama, Chris Leggett, of Alabama, Brenna Woods, of Alabama; and 12 great-grandchildren.
