Larry E. Morris, Sr. 88, passed away on Monday, January 20, 2020.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, January 22, 2020 at Penders Chapel Baptist Church with Pastor Johnny Hendricks officiating. Burial will follow in Edgecombe Memorial Park.

He was preceded in death by his, parents, Herman Morris and Jewell Leggett, grandmother, Flora Colvin, sister, Justine Wrenn and granddaughter, Erica Griffin.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 65 years, Mamie W Morris; son, Larry E (Gene) Morris Jr; daughters, Elizabeth (Beth) Griffin and Kimberly Daniels; Granddaughter, Morgan Daniels.

Larry proudly grew up in Runnymede where he first learned to love and serve the Lord. He was a deacon and Sunday school teacher for many years at the First Pentecostal Holiness Church in Tarboro.  Later in life, he joined Penders Chapel Missionary Baptist Church where he was honored to be part of such loving and supportive group of Christians. He was a fervent believer in the power of prayer which he demonstrated everyday.

Larry served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was also a long time volunteer for the local  E.L. Roberson senior center where he met many wonderful friends.

Most of all, Larry will be remembered for his kindness, compassion and gentleness of spirit. While we will miss him greatly, we are comforted by knowing he rejoices now with his Lord and Savior that he is at peace. Many heartfelt thanks to all who visited and prayed with us and for the excellent and compassionate care he received at Vidant Edgecombe Hospital.

The family will receive friends and relatives on Tuesday at Carlisle Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00pm.
