Lennis Earl Turner, age 82, passed away at his home on December 27, 2025. He was born on September 19, 1943.

Lennis was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who cherished his family deeply. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Janet Bradley Turner. He also leaves behind his children, Kevin Turner (Barbara) of Oak City, NC, Gary Turner (Amy) of Clinton, NC, and honorary daughter Chelsea Averette (Chris) of Saratoga, NC.

He was a proud grandfather to Bradley Turner (Kristen), Tyler Turner, Natalie Turner, and Molly Turner (Spencer). He is also survived by his step-grandchildren, Corey Nelms (Kelly), Taylor Spell (Lucas), and Ethan Spell and step- great-grandchild, Wyatt Nelms. He was looking forward to meeting his new great-grandson in May 2026.

His surviving siblings are Jesse Turner (Ann), Gene Turner (Reita), and Linda Bryant (G.T.).

Lennis was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Mary Addie Turner, and his in-laws, George "Shorty" Bradley and Annie Belle Bradley.

A veteran of the United States Army, Lennis served his country honorably from 1967 to 1969, including a tour of duty in Vietnam. His service was a source of pride for his family and a reflection of his strong sense of duty.

Lennis spent 45 years working at Superior Essex, where he retired as a production operator. Known for his strong work ethic, he took pride in providing for his family.

Lennis was a faithful member of Trinity Baptist Church, where he valued worship, fellowship, and his church family.

Those who knew Lennis will remember him for the simple joys that brought him happiness—watching westerns from his recliner, faithfully getting his lottery "numbers", and, most especially, sneaking a little extra money to his grandchildren through a well-practiced handshake. These quiet, loving gestures spoke volumes about his generous heart.

Visitation will be held on Friday, January 2, 2026, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Carlisle Funeral Home in Tarboro, NC.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Trinity Baptist Church, located at 730 West Wilson Street, Tarboro, NC.

Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Tarboro, NC.

Lennis will be remembered for his steady presence, his deep love for his family, and the life he built alongside those he loved. His legacy lives on in the many lives he touched.
