IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Linda Faye
(Noble) Bowen
November 23, 1941 – January 1, 2026
Graveside Service
Edgecombe Memorial Park, NC, Tarboro
Starts at 2:00 pm
Linda Noble Bowen was called home to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on January 01, 2026. Linda was born on November 23, 1941 to her parents, Bernell and Bert Noble of Tarboro, NC. She was the middle child with an older brother, Jimmie, and a younger sister, Carolyn. Linda grew up in Tarboro and was always a dedicated student. She graduated from Tarboro High School in 1960 and never missed a day of school in 12 years. She continued her education at East Carolina College (now known as East Carolina University) and graduated with a BS in Home Economics in 1964. Linda's new degree allowed her to work as a Home Economics teacher in various North Carolina public schools until she took a position with the North Carolina Department of Instruction. She held the position of Child Nutrition Specialist until her retirement in 1996. Linda's Dedication and leadership helped make policy and training manuals for North Carolina's public school lunch program. This work ensured that public school children in North Carolina met proper nutritional requirements to prevent malnutrition and obesity caused by food insecurity. In 1974, Linda married Daniel M. Bowen, who was part of the family for several years. She made her home in Williamston and was a devoted member of the Williamston Memorial Baptist Church until Parkinson's disease took control. Linda chose to move to the safety of Cypress Glen in Greenville, NC, to live the remainder of her life. Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Bernell Rogers Noble and Bert Franklin Noble; her brother, James Talbert Noble; her great-nephew, Eli Bland Scott; and her great-great-nephew Levi Bland Scott. Linda is survived by her loving sister, Carolyn Noble Bland (Joseph) of Morehead City, NC; nieces, Tammy S Bland of Greenville, NC and Natalie B. McCarthy (Timothy) of Winterville, NC; great nieces and nephews, Dakota Davis, Kristen Scott, Cape Daniels, Grace McCarthy, Luke McCarthy, and Anna Vause McCarthy; great-great niece and nephews, Spencer Scott, Kendalyn Scott, and Leander Davis; and very special friends, Jim and Kay Jones. Linda was a treasured member of her family and friend community. She was well known for her quick wit, delicious foods, and her devoted love of the color purple. Linda will always be remembered by the people who loved her. A graveside service will be held at the Edgecombe Memorial Park in Tarboro NC on Friday, February 27 at 2:00 pm. Those that would like to attend are encouraged to wear something purple to celebrate Linda.
