Obituary

Margaret Dew Aldridge, 86, of Tarboro NC, passed away peacefully on Thursday morning with her loving son by her side. Born March 22, 1939, in Tarboro, she was a devoted member of her community, a woman of deep faith, and someone who believed in the power of education, kindness, and hard work.

Margaret was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 51 years, Edwin "Tiny" Aldridge; her parents, Kerg and Lucille Dew; her brothers Kerg Jr., John, Tim, and Billy Dew; her sisters, Betty Dew Worthington and Sue Dew Dupree; and several brothers and sisters-in-law.

She is survived by her loving son, Edwin "Ed" Lewis Aldridge and his wife Missy; her cherished grandchildren, Lila, Trey and Anna Claire; her dear brother Ben Dew and sister-in-law, Carol Dew. She also leaves behind many beloved nieces and nephews, each of whom she held close to her heart.

Margaret worked for many years at Edgecombe Bank, which later became BB&T, and later with Carolina Relocations. She truly lived to work, finding great fulfillment in her career and building many lifelong friendships along the way.

While working full-time, Margaret remained committed to her personal growth and education. She proudly graduated from Edgecombe Community College with a perfect 4.0 GPA, an achievement that reflected her discipline, determination and love for learning.

Her love for her town was matched by her unwavering devotion to her church. Margaret worked tirelessly for Calvary Episcopal Church, whenever she was needed, offering her time, talents, and heart in service to her faith community.

She was always the first to lend a hand to others, known for her prissy charm, her perfectionist nature, and her eye for detail. Margaret was precise to a fault, and proud of it. She was devoted to her family and poured her heart into every relationship she held dear.

For the last six years of her life, she bravely battled Alzheimer's disease, a cruel illness that never dimmed her legacy or the love she gave to others.

She will be remembered for her grace, her generosity, and her unwavering commitment to doing things the right way.

Margaret Dew Aldridge will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.

A celebration of Margaret's life will be held in the chapel of Carlisle Funeral Home on Sunday, August 10, 2025 at 2 PM, with the family receiving friends and family from 1 to 2 PM at the funeral home. The interment will follow the service in Greenwood Cemetery.
