Marguerite Daniels Holland,101, passed away surrounded by family on August 14, 2024 at her home in Tarboro, NC. She was born in Wayne County on April 7, 1923 to John W. Daniels and Ethel Honeycutt. On November 25, 1939 she married Leroy Holland. Together they had 2 children. Their marriage lasted 69 years and held a lifetime of memories. Marguerite worked at TiCaro in Tarboro for 40 plus years, eventually retiring in 1989. Faith and God were important to Marguerite. She was the oldest, living member of the First Baptist Church of Tarboro.
Surviving family members that will cherish her memory include her daughter and husband, Peggy and Joe White of Tarboro; Grandsons, Bobby Lee Dyson and Timothy Brian Dyson both of Tarboro; Granddaughter and husband, Angelena and Todd Ellis of Garner, NC; Great-Grandsons, Bryce and Chance Dyson of Tarboro; George, Jackson, and Cooper Ellis of Garner, NC; Great-Granddaughters, Nicole Dyson of Tarboro; Jessica Dyson of New Bern, NC; Brittany (Charles) Holt and Autumn (Timmy) Pollard both of Greenville, NC; Skylar Rogister of Rocky Mount; Brother-in-Law, Ray Holland of Tarboro.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Leroy Holland; daughter, Barbara Holland Webb; grandson, Clinton Lee Braddy; granddaughter, Rhonda Mechele Dyson; sisters, Iula Newsome Hendrick and Christine Daniels Clark; brothers, Virgil Newsome, Harl Newsome and J.W. Turner.
Visitation will be held on August 17, 2024 from 1-2pm with the funeral following. Both will be held at First Baptist Church, Tarboro, NC. A Graveside service will follow at Edgecombe Memorial Park.
