Marie Strickland Capps of Pinetops passed away at home at the age of 81 on February 12, 2021 surround by her family. She was well known to friends and family for her giving spirit and wonderful cooking. Marie was born on February 21st, 1939 in Goldsboro to the late Stephen & Florence (Peele) Strickland.

She is preceded in death by her husband Rexford Capps, sons Jeffery Capps and Thairs "Buzz" Capps, sisters Toby Brogdan and Frances Phipps, brothers Stephen Strickland and Leroy Strickland. She is survived by her oldest son Michael Capps and wife Beckie of Nebraska, daughter in laws Jennette Vines (of home) and Mary "Mimi" Capps of Rhode Island, sister Doris and husband Joe Tax of Ohio, 8 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

The family would like to give special thanks to Doug and Judy Capps, Mary Walters, Frances and SL Clark, Linda Williams and the members Pinetops Baptist Church for their love and support of Marie through the years. Also a special thanks to the wonderful staff of Kindred Hospice Care.
