Obituary

Ernestine Mosley Webb, 88, went to her heavenly home on May 22, 2026. She passed away in her home while being faithfully cared for by her family and Gentiva Hospice Care.

Ernestine graduated from Farmville High School in the Class of 1955. She always looked forward to attending their class reunions and connecting with old friends. On any given Saturday, she could be found at Teresa’s house with her sisters. She loved spending time with them and catching up on all the news from their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Ernestine was a quintessential farming wife. Not only did she create a loving home for her husband and children, but she could routinely be found helping on the farm.

Her family will cherish their memories of Sunday lunches, boiled peanuts and Pepsi, and arguing over which grandchild was her favorite. There was always room for more when she was cooking. As her family quickly grew, they started to run out of room around her dining table. Grandchildren and great-grandchildren would fill the living room eating at the “kids’ table.” Grandchildren and great-grandchildren alike have special memories digging through the toy closet, making messes, and sneaking into her “Christmas Room.” She found joy every time she got a message from family, especially if it was a picture of a great-grandchild. She will be deeply missed by all who loved her.

Ernestine was preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years, Edwin Webb, and her daughter, Donna Webb. She is also preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, and one brother.

She is survived by her son, Pat Webb (Debbie Alvez), her daughter, Lisa Hicks (Jimmy Hicks), and her son-in-law, Kent Webb; her grandchildren, Amanda Everette (Dwayne), Matthew Webb (Amber), Aaron Webb (Schia), Mary Kaitlyn Boykin (Nathan), Grayson Dye (Jacob), and Ellen Tolbert (Austin); and her 13 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Jean Allen, Charlotte Webb, and Teresa Cash (Ralph); and her brother-in-law, Bryant Webb (Trish).

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at 2 o’clock in the afternoon at Macclesfield Cemetery (948 S Fountain Road, Macclesfield, NC 27852), visitation to follow. Rev. Stephen Duncan of Webbs Chapel will be officiating the service.
