Maurice Eldridge Brown passed away on March 26, 2023 at the age of 86 after a brief illness. During his recent struggle he showed courage in the face of many challenges while also maintaining his usual sharp wit and sense of humor until the end.

From an early age, Maurice showed commitment to his family and loved ones. He developed an "others first" attitude as a younger brother to his physically handicapped sisters. This commitment to serving others continued for the duration of his life.

Maurice met the love of his life, Jane, in 1964 while working in the textile industry in Clarksville, Virginia and was happily married for almost 57 years. Together, they raised three sons: Kyle, Mitchell, and Chad, in Tarboro, North Carolina.

Maurice loved playing golf, watching his sons and grandchildren participate in their activities, sitting on the porch reading the paper, and talking to anyone within shouting distance.

A memorial service is scheduled for 11 am on March 30 at First Presbyterian Church in Belmont. Visitation with the family will follow the service. He is survived by his wife, Jane, his three sons, Kyle, Mitchell, and Chad, his three daughters-in-law, Cathy, Colleen, and Shannon, and his five grandchildren, Noah, Hannah, Evan, Lia, and Hugh.
