On April 29, 2026, at age 86, Travis changed his address to his Heavenly Home. This was prearranged by the Lord Jesus Christ and the acceptance of Travis. Travis met Peggy Joyce Rogers in 1958 and they married in 1959. They were blessed with two sons and a daughter, Melvin, Tammy and Mark. These children and their grandchildren were their greatest joy. Travis taught Sunday school and was a deacon in various churches in Edgecombe and Pitt Counties.
Travis is survived by his wife, Peggy of 67 years; children, Melvin (Dawn), Tammy (Will), and Mark (Johanna); grandchildren, Russell Coletti (Hannah), Katie Clay, Lauren Wooten, Logan Wooten, Grace Wooten and Landon Wooten. He is also survived by his great grandchildren, Chloe, James, and Ryan Coletti.
Travis was preceded in death by his parents, Julius R. Wooten, Sr. and Mamie Varnell Wooten; brothers, Julius R. Wooten, Jr., Ronald B. Wooten, and William B. Wooten.
Travis worked in various manufacturing facilities as a machinist, manufacturing engineer, machine designer, and Operations Manager. After twenty-five years of manufacturing, Travis joined Pitt Community College as the Department Chair of Manufacturing Engineering Technology.
After retirement in 2002, Travis enjoyed restoring cars and was an active member in local car clubs. Travis was always thankful for his upbringing in a Christian Home. Together, Travis and Peggy, with the blessings of God, built on the Rock of God’s Word. ALL PRAISE TO GOD!
Visitation will be 1:30 – 3:00pm on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at Maccripine Free Will Baptist Church with the funeral service following at 3:00pm with Rev. Allen Hall. Burial will follow at Macclesfield Cemetery.
