Obituary

Moses Douglas Wallace, affectionately known as Doug, entered the gates of heaven on May 16, 2025. Doug is survived by his wife, Dianne, daughter, Kim W. Parker (Richard), step-daughters, Cindy Everett (Charlie), Dawn Wooten, grandchildren, Talon Parker, Emily and Jeremy Everett, Johnny and Courtney Willing, sisters, Meredith Harrell (Eddie), Sandra Ellis, brothers, Rudolph Wallace, Dwight Wallace (Becky),  nephews George and Keith Wallace, nieces, Kristy Barnhill and Gina Bridgers and several special great nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Thad and Elizabeth "Lizzie" Wallace, his first wife, Francis "Frankie", brothers, George Colin "GC" and John Rubin Wallace.

Doug was a lifelong member of Webb's Chapel Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and participated on several committees over the years. He had a deep love for his church, his church family, and most importantly his Heavenly Father.

Doug grew up in a farming family and he and his brother, Dwight, farmed together for many years. They eventually retired from farming and started W4 Construction with their two cousins, Gene Wallace and Bud Webb.  This was a successful business due to their keen craftmanship and trustworthiness. They were often scheduled months in advance. The last project they completed together was a ramp for their older brother, Rudolph. On most days before starting work, they met at Bridgersville Store to socialize with friends, while eating good food, and solving the worlds problems.

In 1968, Doug married his first love, Francis "Frankie" Brooks. Doug dedicated himself to her care with unwavering love and devotion for 27 years.

In 2000, Doug was blessed to find the second love of his life, Dianne Wooten. Together, they shared a love of Christ, their church and their family. Dianne further enriched Doug's life and always supported his desire of giving back to his community.

Doug's dedication to service extended beyond his family and church. He began volunteering with the Macclesfield Fire Department in 1975 and served as Fire Chief from 1992 to 1995.  He also served as Chaplain several times, most recently holding that position at the time of his passing. Doug understood the vital role of the volunteer fire department in his community and worked tirelessly to ensure its success.

A member of the St. Lewis Ruritan Club, Doug dedicated his time to serving the needs of his community. Though he only served for five years, his contributions left a lasting impact on those he served.

Doug also served on the Board of Edgecombe Farm Bureau, where his experience and dedication to local agriculture were deeply valued.  He was also a big supporter of the Children's Baptist Home, particularly Kennedy Children's Home and Cameron Boys Home. As part of the Baptist's Men's group, Doug led efforts to assist in biannual cleanup trips and Christmas drives to ensure the children received the care and attention they deserved.

At his core, Doug exemplified Christlike living. He loved everyone, never met a stranger, and was always willing to offer a hand and most especially a prayer. His generosity, humility, and selflessness touched the lives of many people.

Doug was affectionately called Big Daddy by the grandchildren. He loved taking his grandson, Talon Parker, to countless rodeos and deer hunting though they never killed a thing. Whenever he visited his grandchildren in Florida, he enjoyed many excursions with them. He was proud of all his grandchildren.

Doug leaves behind a legacy of kindness, service and faith that will continue to inspire all that knew him. His family, friends, and community will miss him dearly, but we take comfort in knowing he is now with his Heavenly Father, where he is forever at peace.
