Nora Mae Dennie Hale, 94, passed away Friday, October 14, 2022 at her home surrounded by her family.,

Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 18, 2022, 12 noon at Carlisle Funeral Home with Pastor Johnny Hendricks officiating. Burial will follow at Edgecombe Memorial Park.

Nora was born in Edgecombe County on March 31, 1928 to William Paul and Virginia Mae Dennie. She spent her life as a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother. For 21 years, 9 months and 18 days, she was a dedicated wife of her husband Roger, an army service member, and held down the homefront. Through the years, Nora worked at McCroy's Dime Store, Roses, Marrow-Pitt, and the Senior Citizen Center. She was a devoted member of Northern Boulevard Baptist Church and later attended Penders Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. She was also well known for her cooking. Whether it was her pimento cheese, chicken salad, cakes or pies, she was quick to share them with the sick, family and friends. Nora had a smile that would light up your heart!  She loved collecting angels and now she is one. She will be missed dearly.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Roger Hale; son, Charles "Chuck" Hale; grandson, Charles Coker, Jr.; great-grandson, J.R. Bulluck, Jr.; siblings, Ida Whitaker, Mildred Walston, Dorothy Bluto, Amos, Paul, James, and Bobby Dennie.

She is survived by her loving family, including daughters Connie Palmer of the home, Teresa Patterson (Robert) of Cottageville, S.C., and Elizabeth Harris (Doug) of Tarboro, N.C, daughter-in-law Kathy Hale of Tarboro,10 grandchildren: Crystal, Allen, Cynthia, Eddie, Julie, Dana, Nora Ann, Bryan and Robert; 8 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at Carlisle Funeral Home, Tuesday, October 18, 2022 from 11:00–12 noon and other times at the home, 1202 Newsome St., Tarboro, N.C.
