Ora Lee Proctor Smith, 98, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by the love of her family on November 28, 2021.

Funeral services will be held December 1, 2021, at 11:00 am, with visitation before the service from 10 until 11, at the First Free Will Baptist Church, 3150 Western Boulevard, Tarboro, NC

Ora Lee was born February 25, 1923, in the Crisp community of Edgecombe County, NC, to Martha Summerlin Proctor and Charlie Fletcher Proctor.  Even though she spent her early childhood growing up in Pitt County, Tarboro was her home for over 75 years.

She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Harrington (Bruce), Cary, NC; sister, Martha Webb, Tarboro, NC; granddaughter Renee Waltz, Holly Springs, NC; and grandson Brian Harrington (Cyndi), Rolesville, NC.  She is also survived by seven great grandchildren and five great, great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Ora Lee was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Bernice Allen Smith; two sisters Mary Eva and an un-named infant; three brothers Edward Proctor, Linwood Proctor and Charlie Proctor; brother-in-law, Cecil Webb; and sisters-in-law, Katy Proctor, Barbara Proctor, and Ruth Proctor Bridges.

Ora Lee retired from Ticaro Mills, Tarboro, NC, after 33 years of employment with the textile industry beginning with Hart Mill. She volunteered at Vidant Hospital, Tarboro, NC, for over 30 years.

She was a charter member of the First Free Will Baptist Church, Tarboro, NC

The family is deeply grateful for the love and care provided to her by her special nieces, special friends, and church family.  Her family and friends will forever miss her.  Her memories will be cherished forever.
