Pamela V. Barbour (“Mrs. Pam”), passed away peacefully at the age of 72 on October 26th, 2026.
A hard worker, Pam worked diligently for Carolina Telephone (which changed names and hands many times during her employment).
Pam worked hard and played even harder. Before later health issues arose, when she wasn’t working, she enjoyed family trips to the beach, the mountains, or to Nico’s to hang out with friends. She loved gardening and fishing and visiting the zoo and bird park. She loved to host, and her home was a hub for friends and deer hunters from the local hunting club, family, work friends and children. Often, she could be found feeding anyone who would sit still long enough for her to put a plate in front of. Her coffee pot was always on and her door was always open.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Cecil and Ida Varnell, and her husband, Landis A. Barbour. A loving mother, she is survived by her daughter Robin Barbour and husband Jayson Webb. The middle of 3 children, she is also survived by her younger brother, Joe Varnell and his wife Kathy, her older sister Marcia Cherry and son Trey Cherry, and numerous nieces and nephews, cousins, loved ones and dear friends.
A Celebration of Life for Pam will be held at Carlisle Funeral Home on Saturday, November 7th from 12pm-2pm, with reception for interested parties to follow at her daughter’s home in Tarboro, NC.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Sylvan Heights Bird Park, The NC Zoological Society or the American Cancer Society.
