Pamela Gray Scott Whitehurst, 63, entered her heavenly home on Saturday, July 13, 2024. Pam was born on Dec. 12, 1960, to the late Ralph Earl Scott and Lucy Gray Briley. She was a 1979 graduate of Roanoke High School. Pam will be most remembered for her love of family, unwavering faith, and kind heart.

After high school, Pam started working at Black & Decker in Tarboro where she would meet the love of her life, James "Allen" Whitehurst. Pam and Allen were married on Dec. 1, 1979. The couple was blessed with three wonderful children, 10 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Family was everything to Pam. Even through all of her health issues, she never once complained or questioned God's plan for her life. Pam dedicated herself to loving her family and making sure all their needs were met. It brought her great joy to host family gatherings during the Christmas holidays. Pam also had a special love for birds, especially cardinals. She spent hours looking out her windows, watching birds eat and play.

Left to cherish her memory are her best friend and devoted husband of 44 years, James "Allen" Whitehurst; her children, John "Stacey" Whitehurst (Jennifer), Mary Louise Taylor (Raymond), and Allen "Kyle" Whitehurst (Amy); her grandchildren, Richard Allen Shannon, Yasmine Elizabeth Shannon, Jewel Marie Shannon, Sebastian Tyler Diaz-Whitehurst, Lana Marie Whitehurst, Aliyah Noel Whitehurst, Addilee Gray Whitehurst, Landen Blake Whitehurst, Chevy Lane Taylor, and Meghan Liz-Marie Taylor; her great-grandchildren, Hallie June Wright, Kynsley Olivia Williams, and Rayner Allen Shannon; her siblings, Ralph Scott Jr., Christopher Stuart Scott (Katherine), Michael Vincent Briley (Melissa), Dawn Briley Roberson (William), Crystal Nichols, Keith Owens, and Kevin Scott (Tracy); and her step-mother, Geraldine Scott. Pam also had a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews whom she loved dearly.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, from 6-8 pm at Carlisle Funeral Home in Tarboro. In accordance with Pam's wishes, she will be cremated. No funeral service will be held.
