Conetoe- Peggy Taylor Warren, 87, died Saturday, October 6, 2018.
A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at Conetoe United Methodist Church in Conetoe with Rev. Ron Elkins, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery in Tarboro.
Mrs. Warren was born in Edgecombe County to Alex and Lena Mae Taylor. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, E T Warren, Jr. and her sisters Mamie Ellen Letchworth, Margaret Lane and brothers Cleveland "Buddy" Taylor and Curtis Taylor.
She was a longtime faithful member of the Conetoe United Methodist Church and served for many years as Adult and Children Sunday School teacher, Bible School teacher, and as a member of the Administrative Board of the church. She also served as a Lay Delegate to the Methodist Conference.
She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who cherished her home and family. She was a wonderful cook whose specialties included peanut brittle, Brunswick stew, collards & fried cornbread. She could always be counted on for corn pudding and lemon chess pie at church functions. In her recent years she remained dedicated to the church pancake suppers always willing to serve up those delicious grits. She was an avid reader who also enjoyed writing and reciting poetry.
She is survived by her children, Hope Warren Stayer (Tim) of Akron, PA and Carl Warren (Ann) of Pinetops; grandchildren Kyle Stayer (Eden), Sholar Warren, Katheryn Warren, and Robert Warren; brothers Joe Taylor of Leggett and Gordon Taylor (Cynthia) of Rockingham and special nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Conetoe United Methodist Church at PO Box 128, Conetoe, NC 27819.
The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6-8 at Carlisle Funeral Home in Tarboro, NC.
