Philip Hunter Thursby passed away peacefully at home on June 7, 2023. Born August 9, 1970 in Barberton, OH, he grew up living in many different states including California, Illinois, Iowa, Kentucky, and Mississippi where he went to high school and obtained his Associates Degree in Electrical Maintenance from Southern Mississippi Community College. He lived in Florida for several years and worked as an electrical contractor where he was sent to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba to install the electrical system on the military prison. Philip moved to Rocky Mount, NC in 1996 and began working for the family business, Thursby Electric, Inc. He obtained his NC Electrical License. In 2003 Philip joined the team at Firestone in Wilson and remained there until 2019 when he left to again pursue his dream of electrical and handyman work.

Philip is survived by his wife, Janet; daughters Jordan and Haley of Tarboro; his loving parents, John and Peggy Thursby of Rocky Mount; sister Kelli Lee and husband Jerry Lee of Summerville, SC; brother David Thursby and wife Mari Thursby of Rocky Mount as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and great-nephews. He is preceded in death by his son, Philip Hunter Thursby, II.

The memorial service will be held at Maccripine FWB Church in Macclesfield, NC on Thursday, June 22, 2023 at 2:00 PM.  A visitation with the family will follow the service.
