Mr. Phillip Darrell Braswell, age 71, passed away at Nash General Hospital on Wednesday, February 13, 2019.

He was born on August 22, 1947 in Edgecombe County to the late Floyd Ralph Braswell and Irene Howell Braswell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Anne Braswell Jefferson.

He proudly served in the United States Army honorably during the Vietnam War. He enjoyed music of all kinds and had a passion for collecting coins.

He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Cleo Johnson Braswell of Rocky Mount; children Robert Daniel Johnson and Nicholas Garrett Braswell both of Rocky Mount; sister Gwen Braswell Gardner and husband Max of Macclesfield; brother Gary Van Braswell and wife Robin of Rocky Mount; brother-in-law Roger Jefferson of Pinetops; one grandchild Noah Gabriel Braswell of Spring Hope; and a host of nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Phillip's life will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, February 16, at Carlisle Funeral Home with the Reverend Howard Kendrick officiating. The family will be receiving friends and relatives one hour before the service at the funeral home.
