Phyllis Armstrong Griffin, 83, of Tarboro, died Tuesday, February 17th, 2026. Mrs. Griffin was born October 3, 1942, to Beulah Sexton Armstrong and Forrest Armstrong, Jr. She and her husband David were owners of Home Builders and Remodelers Inc. for 28 years and she was the financial secretary of First Baptist Church - Tarboro for 20 years.
The family will receive friends and family at 1 p.m. Saturday February 21, 2026 at the Tarboro First Pentecostal Holiness Church, with the memorial service beginning at 2 p.m. at the church. Reverends Jody O'Neal and Barry House will officiate. A private family burial will follow.
Survivors include her daughter Gay Griffin Norville and husband Michael of Tarboro; son David Forrest Griffin and wife Stephanie of Rocky Mount; sister Pam Dixon and brother-in-law J.T. Dixon, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Mavis and John Seagrove, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Roscoe and Cathy Griffin, grandchildren Scott Griffin Norville and wife Rebecca Norville, Michaela Gay Norville and fiancé Matthew Johnson, Grace Page Griffin, Allison Virginia Griffin, Sarah Madison Griffin, great-grandchildren Griffin Dale Norville and Lillian Jean Norville; several nieces and nephews that she loved dearly.
She was predeceased by her parents Beulah and Forrest Armstrong, husband David Harold Griffin, mother-in-law Blanche Virginia Griffin and father-in-law David Earl Griffin, sister Marshall Bullock and brother-in-law Joe Bullock, sister Marie Sallee and brother-in-law Donnie Sallee, and sister-in-law and brother-in-law Harold and Diane Denton.
Phyllis was a faithful and capable teacher of the Gospel. A wonderful woman who loved her God, her family, her many friends and her hometown of Tarboro. She will be greatly missed.
