Richard Curtis "Cotton" Hudson-92 passed away on Friday, June 30th at ECU Health Edgecombe Hospital.

Cotton was born on April 29th 1931 in Edgecombe County to Norman and Annie Rose Hudson. He served in the United States Army and was Honorably Discharged in 1959. One month later he married his love-Patricia Williams. He was a lead mechanic at Runnymede Hosiery Mill his entire working career until he retired.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son-Mark Hudson, a daughter-Robin Hudson, brothers-Tom Hudson, Tony Hudson, Bud Hudson, sisters-Christine Bailey, Hazel Harrell, Nellie Ellis, Lucy Raynor and his special nephew-Johnny Bailey.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 64 years-Patricia Williams Hudson, son-Richard Glenn Hudson, daughter- Ginger Hudson Taylor and husband Gray Taylor, and the sunshine of his world-granddaughter Grayson Robyn Taylor and fiancé Brandon Washington as well as many beloved nieces, nephews and close friends.

Cotton's love of woodworking, building furniture especially building clocks brought him great joy throughout his life. He leaves behind many beautiful treasures he created. He was also a very talented musician with the steel guitar being one of his favorite instruments to build and to play.

He loved to fix things and was called upon by many because "Cotton can fix anything". He never touched a piece of wood that he couldn't build something beautiful with, never held an instrument he couldn't figure out how to play or a person that he wouldn't help. He was loved and admired by so many and the void his passing leaves will not ever be filled.

Services are as followed: Visitation will be Saturday 7/8/23 from 5-7pm at Carlisle Funeral Home and graveside service on Sunday 7/9/23 at 2 pm at Greenwood Cemetery Other times at the home of Ginger and Gray Taylor-1516 Canterbury Road in Tarboro.
