Robert Richard Denton, 58, passed away unexpectedly on December 10, 2017.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, December 16, 2017 at Edgecombe Memorial Park.

He is preceded in death by his twin sister, Robin Denton. Robert was survived by his loving family which includes his step-father, Ronald Thompson and mother, Emily Bruce (Harris) Thompson, of Tarboro; his ex-wife, Meri Knowles, of Boston, MA.; two sons, Robert Denton and wife Kathy, Gregory Denton and wife Jess, both of Boston; brothers, Johnny Denton, Devin Thompson, Alan Thompson; grandchildren, James, Hailey, Charlie and Katelyn Denton; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and many, many friends. Robert was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved being outdoors. Robert had a larger than life personality. He was always making friends and entertaining wherever he was. There was never a sad face while he was entertaining a crowd or hanging with friends. He kept everyone laughing. His grandkids adored him and he would light up with happiness every time they talked. You could always count on Robert to drop everything and help a friend in need. The world has become a smaller place without him and he will be dearly missed by many in the days ahead. The family will receive friends and relatives on Friday night from 6:00-8:00pm at Carlisle Funeral Home.
