Roger Dail Jefferson, Sr. departed this earthly life on June 16, 2026, following a brief illness, and entered his heavenly home, where his faith long assured him, he would one day dwell. Born on April 14, 1943, to Raymond and Thelma Jefferson, he was preceded in death by his parents; all of his siblings, Marie Jefferson McKeel, Marion Jefferson Dilda, John Dwight Jefferson, Edwina Jefferson Barry, and Marianne Jefferson Taylor; his beloved wife, Dorothy Anne Braswell Jefferson, daughter, Pennie Lynn Jefferson, and his grandson, Dustin Dwayne Everette.

He is survived by his children, Roger Dail Jefferson, Jr. (Wendy) and Suzanne Jefferson Speight (Michael); grandchildren, Jessica Jefferson Bryant (Damien), Dena Shyanne Everette (Wyatt), Jacob Lee Jefferson, Thomas Corey Deal, Dawson Rae Deal, Tyler Speight, and Jayden Speight, six great-grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews, brother in laws; Gary Braswell (Robin), Larry Taylor, and sister in law, Gwen Gardner (Max).

Roger lived a life defined by integrity, quiet strength, a dry sense of humor, and most of all, an unwavering faith in God. His work ethic was unmatched, and he carried that dedication into every role he held. He worked for many years at Black & Decker in Tarboro, where he built lasting friendships, until its closing led him to ABB in Pinetops, where he remained until his retirement. Roger also demonstrated his commitment to both country and community. In his earlier years, he proudly served in the National Guard, and he served his hometown of Pinetops as a part-time police officer for twenty-seven years.

Above all, Roger was a man of deep conviction and steadfast faith. He was known for his honesty, his steady presence, and his love for his family and friends. Those who knew him understood he was one of a kind – a reflection of his father in both character and spirit. His faith was visible not only in his actions and the way he lived, but also in the ball caps he wore proudly, bearing messages such as, “God is Good” and “John 3:16.”

Throughout life’s joys and deep sorrows, Roger leaned on his trust in the Lord. He carried grief of losing his parents throughout his life and endured further heartbreak and loneliness with the passing of the love of his life, Anne. Yet even in sorrow, his faith remained firm.

In his later years as a widower, he found comfort in time spent with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; sharing Sunday lunches, making new memories, telling stories, attending church gatherings, and studying his Bible. He often expressed to those closest to him his readiness to be called home, confident in the promise of eternal life and the joy of being reunited with loved ones, this time with no separation, only everlasting peace in the presence of the Lord.

Roger will be remembered for his dry sense of humor, his steadfast love for family, and his unshakable devotion to God. His legacy is one of faith lived in action, strength tempered by humility, and love that extended through generations. He leaves behind a testimony of faith, endurance, and love. His family and friends take great comfort in knowing he is now at peace in his eternal home, reunited with those who went before him, and resting in the presence of the Lord he served so faithfully. If he could speak to us today, he would encourage all to seek the Lord, so that one day they too may be reunited in heaven.

Visitation will be 3:00 - 4:00 pm at Carlisle Funeral Home on Monday, June 22, 2026, with the memorial service following at 4:00pm in the Chapel officiated by Pastor Don Causey.
