Roy "Bean" Nathan Butler, 81, entered the arms of the Lord peacefully on April 22nd, 2026, surrounded by his family. Roy was born in Virginia on December 19, 1944, to the late Chester McGlenn Butler and Annie Butler. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings Martha, Oscar, Lenora, Willie Mae and Ray. He is survived by his loving family which include his wife of 61 years, Patsy Butler, his brother Chester Butler, his children Jerry Butler and Pamela Lee (Roy “Frankie” Lee), his grandchildren Mackenzie Butler (Isaiah White), Makayla Warren (Cameron Warren), Marissa Warren (Matthew Warren), his great grandchildren Trey, Camden, Kensleigh, Dalton and granddaughter on the way and longtime friends Stephen Speight (Sweet Steve), Mayo Holiday and Julian Padgett (Mule). Roy loved spending time with his loving family and his dogs, being with his great grandbabies, playing golf, playing cards with his best friend Steve and attending ball games over the years. Roy was a one of a kind man that could light up any room he walked in with his smile and humor. Making sure that everyone around him was taken care of, he had a giving heart that could be seen by anyone who met him.

Family will receive friends and family at Penders Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, Tarboro, on Thursday, April 30, 2026 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM.

A Memorial Service will immediately follow at 7:00 PM.
