Ruby Harrell Cummings

Ruby Harrell Cummings, 88, passed peacefully from this life into the next on Friday, April 24, 2020 with her daughter by her side. She was the daughter of the late Oscar and Smithie Harrell.

Ruby is survived by her daughter Kay Abrams (Ricky), beloved grandson and great-granddaughter Kyle Abrams and Lela Abrams, sisters Reba Deal, Sarah Harrell, and Mary Naylor and special niece Joan. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Joe Cummings and brothers, Elwood, Jack, Tink, Thomas "Blue" and Acie Ray.

She was a farmer's wife and homemaker her entire life, was an excellent cook and loved her family to no end. Her passion was shelling pecans and peanuts for family and friends, and she took pride in the pecans coming out "whole"! She also took pride in the fact that she made money doing this. She read the Bible every day, and loved her church family and sisters dearly.

We would like to thank the nurses and staff of Edgecombe Health and Rehab for the excellent care and love that was provided during her illness, and all the friends and family that visited and sent well wishes during that time.

Due to Covid-19, a private family graveside service will be held to honor Ruby's life at Pinetops Cemetery.
