Mr. Russell "RJ" Joseph Barnes, Jr. passed away on March 24, 2018 in Edgecombe Health and Rehab Center.

RJ was a very loving and caring man. Everyone who came in contact with him would never forget him. He loved to travel and spend time with his family, friends and he adored his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He retired from being a Truck Driver after many years of dedicated service.

RJ was preceded in death by his father Russell Joseph Barnes, mother Mary Louise Bazemore, wife Eloise S. Barnes, daughter Marcia Kaye Barnes, brother James Barnes and nephew Milton D Sawyer.

His is survived by his step children, Sandra Winchester and husband Robert of Tarboro, Johnny Sumerlin and wife Teresa of Tarboro, Bobby Sumerlin of Tarboro, Billy Sumerlin and wife Terry of Denton, NC, Raymond Sumerlin of Washington, NC, Tommy Sumerlin and wife Sarah of Florence, SC, a niece Melinda B. Dunn and husband Wesley of Fuquay-Varina, grandchildren and great grandchildren, special friend Linda at Edgecombe HR

A Celebration of RJ's life will be held Monday, March 26, 2018 at 1:00 Pm Graveside at the Edgecombe Memorial Park.
